East Longmeadow Tick Program

Ticks are on the rise this season.

The East Longmeadow Health Department is excited to announce a new partnership with UMASS Amherst.  Our residents will have access to steeply discounted tick tests through the UMASS lab.  They test ticks for potentially harmful bacteria and viruses.  Each test will be subsidized from $50.00 to only$5.00 for our residents!

This is a really exciting program becuase most of us know someone who has had lymes disease, some who have it for a short time, and some that will struggle with it the rest of their lives. The earlier lymes disease is detected the greater success for recovery. The resuls are provided directly to the resident mostly in 24 hours, but may take as long as 72. This allows our residents to seek advice from their medical provider about options much sooner.

For more information please contact the Health Department at 413-525-5400 x1103 or email us at aimee.petrosky@eastlongmeadowma.gov
