East Longmeadow 's Annual Town Meeting is presently held on the first Monday in May of each year, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the High School. However, a motion to change that date to the third Monday will be made at the May, 2006 Annual Town Meeting. Also, residents will be asked to participate in a survey to determine if there is a strong preference for a Saturday morning meeting, instead of Monday evening.

The Selectmen are required to call a Special Town Meeting if they receive a written request from 200 registered voters of the Town on a form approved by the Secretary of State. Any such meeting must be held no later than 45 days after Selectmen's receipt of the request.

Note that if a registered voter wants to have an article included in a Town Meeting warrant, the written request must contain (i) the required number of signatures (10 for the Annual Town Meeting; 100 for a Special Town Meeting); (ii) the residential address, including number and street.
