The East Longmeadow Recreation Department manages multiple youth sport leagues throughout the year. We pride ourselves on providing a lasting athletic experience for all youth from town.
K -10th grade. Registration usually begins in early January and runs to the first week of March.
Shetland (T-Ball) – Kindergarten
Pinto (Coach Pitch) – 1st and 2nd grade
Mustang – 3rd and 4th grade
Mustang – 3rd and 4th grade
Bronco – 5th and 6th grade
Sandy Koufax – 7th and 8th grade
Mickey Mantle – 9th and 10th grade
We offer in-town
for boys and girls grades 1st - 12th. We also have a travel program for boys and girls grades 3rd - 8th.
Offered in fall and winter.
This is an instructional program designed to introduce new participants to the skills and conditioning exercises required for cheerleading. Skills include tumbling, stunting, jumping, and dance. Cheerleading is for girls and boys currently in 2nd-7th grades.
This program begins in June so as to be ready for their participation in the 4th of July Parade. They will also be training for the fall football games and for the cheerleading exhibition in October.
Third and 4th Grade Instructional Program
This program will introduce players to the basic skills needed to play field hockey.
5th and 6th Grade Program
This is a developmental travel league program that will cover the basic concepts of the game field hockey. Basic skills, field positions and rules of the game will be covered. There will be about 12-15 games and a jamboree during the season.
7th and 8th Grade Program
This is more advanced developmental, travel league program that will review the basic skills, rules of the game and field positions and prepare the youth for a higher level of play. There will be about 12-15 games and a jamboree during the season.
The East Longmeadow Recreation Department is offering a
Tackle Football Program
from August to mid-November. As in prior years, age restrictions apply and players must be in grades 3rd through 8th for the fall of 2012.
Residency in East Longmeadow is required by the league. The residency requirement is waived for a player who has been an East Longmeadow METCO student for two years.

3rd/4th Grade BANTAM
5th/6th Grade JUNIOR
7th/8th Grade SENIOR
3rd and 4th Grade:
Bantam Division: This is an Instructional program to introduce players to the basic skills of catch, throwing and field movement.
5th and 6th Grade:
This is a developmental program, which will teach the basic concepts of the game of Lacrosse. The girls will learn throwing and catching, as well as field positions and the rules of the game. The team will play about 8 Games and 1 Tournament during the season.
7th and 8th Grade:
This is a more advanced designed to prepare the girls for High School lacrosse. There will be a review of throwing and catching as well as the rules of the Game and field positions. Physical conditioning and set plays will be part of the program.
Registrations usually begins the first week of January and runs the first week of March. All girls will play in their age group based on school grade.

If sufficient numbers register in Co-ed groups they will be separated by gender. Programs will be played using modified rules. Playoff games will be held for Grades 3 - 12
Registration will be taken in the Recreation Office beginning the first week of June and will continue up until second week of August.
Registration usually begins in January and runs to the last week of February. Starts as early as 1st and 2nd grade. We also offer travel programs for U10, U12, and U14.
This program is offered to boys and girls ages 6 – 18 who want to develop their swimming skills, be part of a team, and make new friends. Swimmers get in excellent physical condition as they learn and improve the four competitive swimming strokes.
Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle to participate and attend practice twice each week
Practices are held Monday through Friday. Swim Meets are usually held on Saturdays beginning in November. The season starts with practices usually in the first week of October and ends with the Championships at the end of January. Swimmers will be evaluated on the first day they attend and the coaches will determine the best practice slot for your child.
However, this program is closed when the enrollment cap is reached or once meets begin.

Youth wrestling is an instructional program to introduce youth in grades 1st - 8th to the basic wrestling skills and conditioning exercises.
