TOWN OF EAST LONGMEADOW
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
November 22, 2004
In accordance with the warrant of the Selectman, a Special
Town Meeting was held in the Auditorium of the East Longmeadow High School on
Monday evening, November
22, 2004. Town Moderator,
Mr. James Sheils called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM there being 564 registered voters present. Mr. Sheils offered the opening prayer and led
the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Article 1
Town to Authorize the Board of Selectman to Purchase a Parcel of Land for
Municipal Purposes Located at 382 North Main Street.
Voted to authorize the Board of
Selectman to acquire a parcel of land with the buildings thereon for municipal
purposes, by purchase and/or eminent domain and to raise and/or appropriate,
borrow or otherwise provide a sum of money to acquire said land and pay the
related expense. Two-thirds or 349
needed to pass.
Standing vote: Yes
165, No 359
Motion Defeated.
Article 2
Town to Transfer a Sum of Money from the Assessor’s Overlay Account to
Other Accounts of Various Municipal Departments to Be Used for Municipal
Purposes
Voted to transfer a sum or sums of
money from the Assessor’s Overlay Account to other accounts of various
municipal departments to be used for municipal purposes.
Passed Unanimously.
Motion to Adjourn
The Special Town Meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m., the
business of the Warrant having been completed.
