HEALTH INSPECTOR

To The Board of Selectmen:

As Board of Health Inspector, my responsibilities include a wide range of mandatory license inspections.  This includes responding to all complaints for potential violations at licensed establishments, all housing, and any health threat to the environment within the Town of East Longmeadow.  My responsibility includes all Town owned or operated land, buildings, operations, etc.

In the year 2004, there were decreased threats of West Nile Virus in Massachusetts.  Also a local responsibility is to be knowledgeable to the threats of bio-terrorism.  I attended many seminars on these and other responsibilities of the Board of Health.  This includes our participation on the Hampden County Health Coalition, which is part of the Homeland Security Act.  We receive some funds to aid in emergency preparation.

I take pride in serving the Town’s Board of Health and all its residents and businesses.  We should strive to protect, preserve and promote public health and safety in the Town.

I thank the Board for its necessary support, and especially commend the efforts of our  Executive Secretary, and the efficient office staff, for their continuous and vital help to me on a daily basis to make East Longmeadow a healthier place to live.

Respectively submitted,

Fred C. Kowal, B.S., R.S.

Health Inspector
