The Planning Board administers East Longmeadow’s zoning and land development regulation by-laws as well as Subdivision Rules and Regulations in conjuncture with M.G.L. Chapters 40A and 41 and helps to protect and enhance the environmental, economic, and social quality of life in East Longmeadow for its residents and visitors by creating and implementing appropriate planning initiatives and regulatory mechanisms for the preservation and protection of the town.
The Conservation Commission is responsible for the administration of environmental laws and policies, open space protection and management, water management, preservation of natural features of the environment, and coordination for joint action with many town bodies.
Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals in accordance with M.G.L. chapter 40A, Section 8, hears and decides petitions for variances in accordance with M.G.L. chapter 40A, Section 10, and hears and decides appeals from decisions of a zoning administrator, if any, in accordance with M.G.L. chapter 40A, Section 13.
