Social Distancing
The Health Department has been getting a lot of calls about the lack of social distancing happening throughout town. Social distancing is the practice of reducing close contact between people, but it is much more than just ensuring a distance of 6 or more feet from others. Gathering in groups throughout town in areas such as parks or the bike trail but keeping 6 feet is not the intent of social distancing. In the simplest of terms, stay at home as much as possible and leave only for essential needs.

By minimizing the amount of close contact we have with others, we can reduce our chances of catching COVID-19 and spreading it to our loved ones, but it has a much larger goal and impact as well. You may have heard the term "Flatten the curve" recently, what that means is we slow the amount of people infected at a given time to keep need for medical within the capacity of our healthcare system. This also allows medical facilities the capacity to respond to everyday health needs such as heart attacks and car accidents.

If you have questions on the best way to practice social distancing for you or your family please contact the Covid-19 hotline at 413- 486-9000
