[ARCHIVED] Holiday Weeks Trash Information

The East Longmeadow Board of Health announces that beginning Wednesday, December 26, 2012, and running through Monday, January 7, 2013, residents may put out one additional container or bag of trash at no charge. The container or bag may not exceed 35 gallons in size, or 40 lbs. Any container or bag in addition to the two that will be allowed must utilize Town bags, per the waste reduction program.

Residents are advised that trash pickup will follow the holiday schedule for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Days. Regular pickup will occur on Monday, December 24th and December 31st. There will be no pickup on Christmas or New Year’s Days. Tuesday pickups will be on Wednesday, Wednesday’s pickups on Thursday, and so on through the weeks. Friday pickups will be on Saturday, December 29th, and January 5th. The week of Christmas will be a paper recycling week, and the week of New Year’s will be a commingled container recycling week.

Residents are reminded to put their trash and recyclables out no later than 7:00 a.m. and to leave them out until picked up or 6:00 p.m. In the event that trash has not been picked up by 6:00 p.m. due to poor weather, etc., residents should leave or put their trash out for pickup the next day by 7:00 a.m. Residents that have questions about their pickup should call Allied Waste at
