Seeking Applicants for Charter Review Committee


The East Longmeadow Town Council is seeking applicants for a Charter Review Committee.  A bylaw was approved by the Town Council on January 14, 2020, which allows the creation of a Charter Review Committee, as mandated by Article 9, Section 2 of the Town Charter.

This bylaw states that a Charter Review Committee be established in each year ending in zero by July 1 of that year.  This Committee shall be comprised of seven registered voters of the Town, with the following restrictions: no more than two members can be current Town councilors; no more than two members can be former Charter Commission members; no more than two members can be employees of the Town; and at least two members shall be persons who are not current Town councilors or Town employees, nor former charter commission members.

All applicants should submit a letter of interest identifying which of the aforementioned category they are applying under, and any relevant qualifications for serving, and forward it to the East Longmeadow Town Clerk’s Office, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028, no later than April 10, 2020.

The appointment of Charter Review Committee members shall expire as of the end of the calendar
