What is Zoning you may ask? Well, Zoning is the method for which local governments (including ours) can regulate the use of land, the scale/size/placement of buildings, where businesses are allowed, protection of natural resources, and protection of Town residents from nuisances. Zoning is the single most important reason why the Town is oriented the way it is today. But with most things, Zoning can get outdated and need revisions.
The Planning Department has produced a survey to better understand how the East Longmeadow Zoning Regulations have impacted residents, local businesses, and property owners. The Town is trying to identify areas where our Zoning Regs can improve, where the focus needs to be (housing, conservation of land, economic development, etc.), and how the Town should be focusing its efforts moving forward.
The survey should take you no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete and will be tremendously helpful in our effort to update our Zoning Regulations. Physical survey booklets will also be available at the Pleasant View Senior Center and the Library. The survey will remain open until February 6, 2026.
