Mission Statement
The Human Resources Department is committed to supporting the Town’s mission by serving as a strategic partner in attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse, talented, and engaged workforce. We strive to foster a positive and inclusive work environment through innovative recruitment and retention strategies, meaningful employee engagement, and a comprehensive total rewards program.

Through thoughtful policy development and administration, we ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant practices. In alignment with the Town Manager’s leadership and the goals of the Town, we promote organizational excellence, accountability, and service to the community.
Responsibilities & Services
The Town of East Longmeadow’s Human Resources Department is the central office for all Town employees. This department is responsible for the following services:
- Keeping and overseeing all Union and Personal Contracts for Town Employees
- Administration of contractual bargaining agreements through advising, implementing and disseminating relevant information
- Administration of employee health, dental, vision, life and retirement benefit programs
- Keeping and maintaining all employee/personnel records.
- Coordination of employee benefit programs available to active and former employees as well as their eligible family members
- Administration of Worker's compensation and 111F, Life and Unemployment insurance programs for all city employees
- Administration of employee training programs
- Compliance with all employment related local, state and federal laws including but not limited to Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action and the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Creating a safe work environment that utilizes the full potential of all members of our diverse workforce
- Employee Engagement and Communication
- Employee support for mental health and wellness
